Expert Reviews of Samsung SGH-i607 BlackJack™ (AT&T)

Expert Rating: 3.0

Samsung’s answer to the BlackBerry comes in the form of the BlackJack, a cell phone with a full QWERTY keyboard and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5 smartphone OS. It’s like having a mini computer in your cell phone, and as such, it's subject to many of the pitfalls of similar devices: dicey battery life and sluggish performance. On the upside, you can access multiple e-mail accounts, IM at will, and carry any Office document with you in your cell phone.

I am not totally satisfied with the phone or the plan. The call quality is not great, much less good; a lot of echoing from both end, calls drop frequently. It is not very user friendly. The plan includes various unexplainable charges. Yes I have asked and do not get a specific answer. I switched from Sprint due to poor customer service, but I would rather have a bill that is easier to understand, does not have hidden charges and actually applies my companies discount than this experience.

Phone gets dropped calls like crazy and then tells me I have no service when my boyfriends phone (also At&t and has the Sony Walkman) gets perfect service where we are.... And I live in Orlando, it is not like I am out in the middle of no where.... Although love the feature of the phone.... Battery life will last me like 4 days with out charging.... But when you are making a call like *pay... There is no letters over the numbers and don't know what to call.... And leaning on the phone and talking is impossible because the phone is SO small and boxy it will be in your check.... Overall I really do like the phone, but needs to be improved in some areas.

I've had my blackjack for about a month and have had few problems. Call quality is the only down side, a few dropped calls with people working on analog cell phones, but land lines and digital seem fine. Went to Puerto Rico and got better service there than in Georgia. Internet speed is excellent. Overall a great phone.

This phone is good to use, having all part of features. Only issue is, small battery is an issue. You need to stick with big size battery if you want to talk more than 1.5 hours. Small battery does not help for 60 mins talk even.. This is biggest issue for us.

The blackjack phone is noisy and awkward to handle. When you turn it off it sounds like a jet taking off. It's hard to find a decent cover for the phone that would allow you to carry it without dialing accidentally. You can not turn off the G3 (internet connection). It is hard to remove the battery cover. I could go on and on, but I won't. Save your money, don't buy it.
